This five-day event, organized jointly by TC 03, 05, 07, 18, 23, 27, 28, and USTV will bring together glass experts from industry and academia to discuss the major challenges facing sustainable glass production and the role of glass as a material for a sustainable future.

As in  2024, the 2026's edition will feature courses given by specialists from both academia and industry. The main aim of the school is to train students, researchers and engineers in the latest developments in glass science and technology, enabling them to make an active contribution to a sustainable transition in the glass industry.

The program will be devoted to fundamental courses providing all the necessary theoretical bases on glass structure, formulation and processing, simulation tools and machine learning. Another part will be dedicated to recent technological advances deployed in the glass industry to reduce carbon footprints.

Particular emphasis will be dedicated on the challenges of decarbonizing the glass industry, glass furnace technologies, eco-responsible glass production (recycling and eco-design), simulation approaches and machine learning, as well as on high-performance glass, particularly for energy and nuclear applications, and advanced technologies such as self-healing or high-temperature resistant glass.
